What would you do?

So many churches now consist of many programs to appeal to all levels of interests and ages. Think of all the involvements you have in your church. Lately I've been thinking about the following: If you serve on a committee with other believers, what would you do if others are making decisions based on what seems to be "common sense" or a business like approach, but not a biblical one? Should all programs or committees be able to back every decision biblically? Examples?

Does the Lord really care if we have Turkey or Ham? I'm not sure every decision can be backed Biblically. The Lord does want us to be good stewards of His resources. (Matt 25:14ff). So perhaps I should backtrack a bit and say "being a good steward is Biblical". That doesn't mean that one needs to find "Turkey" as endorsed by the Apostle John.

Am I totally missing your point?

Thanks Ben. No, you're not missing the point. Obviously all our programs aren't defined biblically but we do them (hopefully) with the intent of accomplishing biblical teaching. Another thought...I also wonder, when we are looking for leaders for these programs should we choose them because they're in a paid position to do it or because they're gifted by the Holy Spirit to do it?

At the very least, our decisions should pursue God's heart, not people's opinions.

There's room for disagreement on how specifically we implement these, but we can't disagree on the goal.
